Off to Lookout Mountain

AB was playing against Covenant College (which had been in her top 2 choices for college) and so My Man and I decided to take a day trip to Lookout Mountain.  It was chilly and drizzly but we enjoyed watching her play so much.

Fun fact is she was playing against one of her high school teammates.

Game final - 1-1 and the BC score came from none other than AB!
So proud of her!

AB and Abby - teammates now opponents

Beautiful view coming down Lookout Mountain

She's a Runner - She's a Track Star

Our spring season of sports was overloaded to say the least.
Here's the sports our kids were involved in (just the ones living under our roof):
HS Track
Club soccer (x2)
IS track
7v7 football (x3)

That's 7 sports/athletes and 6 different schedules.
It was nuts!

But our Fish Sticks love to compete and honestly, we love to watch them and support them.

So Lydia just finished her first season of intermediate school track.
Since the season is not really official for 6th graders, she practiced most days after school and then finished the season with a mock track meet of just our students.
It was lots of fun and she learned lots of "track" skills.

Sleepy Head

MQ loves to nap.
She's the only kid I've ever had to actually sleep in past 7 in the morning.
She naps each day in Pre-K and then falls asleep on the ride home.
Leah sends me photos of her just about daily.
Here's my collection...😴💤

Outside Happy Place

Spring is in the air which means washing and storing the endless mounds of blankets on all the beds and hanging clothes on the clothesline.

I'm pretty sure Titus thought this bedding pile was meant for him.
And this year's new crop to try is purple potatoes!

Enjoying the Years of Wonder

I know I probably talk too much about having a little one in the house, but it is a rare thing in our society.  When doctors are considering a mother in her early 30's to be considered "at risk" for pregnancy, it's not common to encounter mom's having children as late as we did.

But there's something wonderful about being middle-aged and having a little one.
I feel like I'm savoring every stage more than I did earlier in life.
I'm enjoying her wonder that she sees in the little things.
I'm more relaxed as a parent...maybe more confident at times too.
It's not just me...it's all 10 of us.

While statistics show that the average age of first-time grandparents is 48 years old, I'm glad that the flow of having a little person around continues into my years.  Hopefully there won't be a big gap between my little caboose's wonder years and the entry of my grandchildren into the world.
These 2 love naps!

She told me not to buy cantaloupe because she was growing some.

Watered her seeds about 10 times in one day.
