Another Dog

MQ's new fascination is pretending to be a dog.

Some days she says to call her Amos (our first lab who she never met but has heard of).

Other days she says she is Autumn (our Blue Tick Hound who passed away a year and a half ago).

Some days she's one of the Paw Patrol pups.

She likes to be petted, she fetches, she rolls over, she sits on her doggy bed (actually Ruger's) and she is pretty good for a dog.

 

Birthday Number 3 and 4 in 2021

Our next set of birthdays in the Fish Family birthday marathon was Jeshua and Jedidiah. 

They turned 10 this year.

They have both been asking for drones for years but I have put it off as every remote control anything I have ever purchased has had a very short lived life before getting broken.

This was the year I decided to give them drones with a chance to prove their "broken record" wrong. 😉

MQ is the birthday princess and convinces all her siblings to let them share their spotlight with her!

We began the day with gift and card opening.

To the one in the Fish House who likes hugs the least...a Big Birthday hug from big sis.

And just because they could tell how much he "enjoyed" that hug, they all chimed in for more hugs!😂

Jeshua asked me if instead of having a cake (since he knew Jedidiah got a cake too), he could have hot wings for his birthday.  YES!!!  We all love hot wings.  But guess what??  Their birthday was the day after the Super Bowl!  There was not a hot wing to be found!  Their daddy came to the rescue when he drove to another town to find these boys some hot wings!  Now everyone is happy!

We Have Lights!

My Man spent a weekend rigging up some outdoor lighting for our fire pit outside of the barn.  He cemented poles into half whiskey barrels and strung them up.  We love our fire pit and enjoy s'mores on a regular basis.  This will make it even nicer now!!

 

I'm Sewing Again!

My younger sister recently went on a trip to AR for business.  She stayed with some college friends and saw a quilted pillow with scenes from Memphis on it.  She loved it and posted a photo of it on FB.  I decided to save the photo and try to make a pattern to make one for her for her birthday in February.

It had been quite a while since I had taken on a sewing project and this was really fun for me.

I made one for her birthday and one for my BIL who also had a February birthday.

Then I decided to try to create one for Nashville as well.

My pillow is featuring the Bat Man building, the pedestrian bridge, the Parthenon, the Titans logo and of course a guitar and cowboy boot!  We love Nashville!

The Memphis one had the Pyramid by the Mississippi River and the bridge that crosses to Arkansas, the Pink Palace Museum, the Peabody Hotel, the Crown Plaza and the guitar for Graceland, home of Elvis Presley.

Ins & Outs

I can't tell you how happy I was when I went to the boondocks store of Trim Healthy Mama in Bon Aqua, TN where I get their special ingredients and found they had opened a coffee shop.  They serve their layered sugar-free, gluten-free cakes too!  Totally a special treat.  So delicious!

One Saturday I put all the Fish Sticks to work as we laid cardboard in our raised beds and dumped leaves on the top to begin composting and prepping for the garden.  Leaf blowing in our woods and bagging them to dump in the beds was the chore and they were rock stars!

In January, our little, country church launched the official Small Group (Sunday School) hour prior to service on Sunday.  Our church has a handful of young families and then older couples.  My Man and I are the only family smack dab in the middle.  The one family with teenagers.  The one couple that is no longer "young" but hopefully not considered "old" yet.  That leaves 3 teenagers in the Fish House without an official small group to attend.  My Man decided that he would use this hour to teach our 3 teens some apologetics...plus treat them to Hatcher's Chocolate Milk.  One Sunday I had to cover for him because he was at a club soccer game with the girls.  It was just this good-looking, almost 14 year old young man in my class.  He behaved pretty well for me.  😍
