June 3 was the day that we met Jeshua and Jedidiah last summer in Congo on our trip to bring them home forever. This special day is known among many as their "Gotcha Day!". In light of this celebration, as their mom I also have to ponder that this day was a day of loss for them. It was a hard yet beautiful day. Two little innocent boys, having lived in a loving, foster home for 2 years, abandoned at a young age by their birth parents, placed suddenly into the arms of 2 white strangers who did not speak their language and would take them across the ocean to a new world with new sights, sounds, smells and words. Stripping all the familiar into the unfamiliar. Yes, it was a glorious day for our family - we were gaining 2 sons into the Fish family, but it was a scary day for our boys, a day of confusion, a day of sadness, a day of unknowns.

So when their "Gotcha Day" arrived, the day of celebration and yet of loss, as their mom I thought of that day last year - when we embraced and cried for the first time, but also the day that we could not communicate, the day when they threw things, they tried to run away from us, they were angry because we could not understand them.
God is faithful and these orphans have found a home.
That will never change and we are eternally grateful. Looking back on how far we've come, this truly was a day of celebration and a day of remembrance.
Jeshua and Jedidiah both wanted to wear the clothes that they wore last June 3, despite the fact that they have both grown over 4" and 10+ lbs.

| I wanted to cook them a traditional Congolese dish from my cookbook but they said that they wanted plain rice and beans because that was what they had most days for every meal. I roasted a chicken and added fried plantains in palm oil. |
Thank you, Lord, for my beautiful sons.
May they grow to never remember a day without YOU!
Do mighty things in and through them.
Amen
